Blending a renewable fuelClean and sustainable fuels could be derived by combining ammonia with complementary combustion-modifying additives. Dr. Binod Giri, Research Scientist in Prof. Aamir Farooq's group is developing experimental and theoretical methods applicable in the energy industry, as well as understanding the gas phase chemical reactions at the molecular level to deduce thermodynamic and kinetic parameters.

Meet the CCRC Student Advisory Committee, 2021Established in the year 2018, the Student Advisory Committee (SAC) aims to represent the Clean Combustion Research Center's (CCRC) student body to the CCRC administration, staff, and faculty members. Every year, CCRC students are elected to constitute the SAC to represent and keep CCRC an exemplary center at KAUST. It was the first student group of its kind to be established in a research center at KAUST.

CCRC Researchers are Developing Cryogenic Technology that can Freeze Carbon from the Point of EmissionThe Clean Combustion Research Center at KAUST is developing Cryogenic Carbon Capture technology in collaboration with Sustainable Energy Solutions LLC (USA) as a part of the Near Term Grand Challenge. This technology can capture (remove) CO2 from the exhaust gases of a fossil power plant or an industrial plant (e.g., cement) or any process that releases CO2 in the exhaust. The captured CO2 has >99.99% purity and can be used in most industrial applications.

Fabiyan Angikath wins runner-up position at the 2021 Falling Walls Lab KAUSTFabiyan presented his innovative idea on "Breaking the wall of Unsustainable Hydrogen production" at the event that was held on September 14, 2021. Fabiyan is currently a Ph.D. Student under the guidance of Prof. Mani Sarathy and affiliated with the Clean Combustion Research Center, KAUST. Along with being a runner-up winner, Fabiyan will also be able to visit and present his research idea at the global Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin this November!
