Research Interests

My research will focus on the development of and optimization of gas heating using a heat exchanger submerged in molten gallium and powered by a solar simulator. The scope of my project involves labrotoary experiments as well as computational models. The experiments will be conducted using the newly built solar simulator while the modeling will be done using advance computational techniques accounting for multi-phase flows, heat transfer and beam tracking. The objectives include: understating the interplay for heat extraction on molten metal buoyancy driven mixing, understanding the impact of high pressure, flow rates and thermal mass on thermal efficiency, and assessing the suitability of modeling strategies to capture the experimental trends and using these models to understand the system characteristics over a broader operating range
