About Clean Combustion Research Center, CCRC

The Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) is a world-renowned research center pursuing leading solutions to global challenges arising from the combustion of fossil fuels, such as pollutant control, global warming and climate change abatement, and sustainable fuel usage.

The challenges arising from the combustion of fuels, such as pollution, global warming and climate change, are among the main concerns of researchers at KAUST's Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC).  The Center works on cutting-edge technologies to maximize the efficiency of the Kingdom’s power generation and transportation sectors, reducing in-Kingdom usage and helping transition from crude oil exporter to producing value-added products.  The Center focuses on decarbonizing the conversion of hydrocarbons into work though better fuel/engine coupling, efficiency improvements via advanced thermodynamic cycles and waste heat recovery, low-carbon fuels, and efficient carbon capturing technologies.
