Yogeshwar Mishra

Biography

Dr. Yogeshwar N. Mishra is a Research Scientist in Visual Computer Center (VCC) at KAUST and a Guest Scientist at Caltech in USA. Dr. Mishra has received his Ph.D. from Lund University in Sweden. Following this, he worked at FAU Erlangen in Germany. In 2019, he moved to NASA-JPL/Caltech, collaborating with Prof. Lihong V. Wang and Dr. Murthy S. Gudipati. Recently, his team at Caltech developed the world’s fastest single-shot laser sheet imaging technology, featured as the most downloaded article of 2023 in Nature’s Light: Science and Applications journal.

Dr. Mishra has received several fellowships and awards, including the SPIE-PRISM Award in 2011, the PETRA Award by ILASS-Europe in 2013, and the AFORSK Foundation fellowship in 2015. He was also an invited speaker at the Gordon Research Seminar in 2017 and received the Swedish Research Council International Postdoc Fellowship in 2018 and an Adlerbert Foundation research grant in 2021. In recognition of his outstanding research in energy technology, he was awarded the Young Scientist Award in 2023 by the International Society for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability at IIT Kanpur in India.

He joined VCC in autumn 2023, collaborating with Prof. Wolfgang Heidrich. His research focuses on developing new diagnostic techniques for "seeing the unseen" using computer vision, structured illumination, and compressed sensing.
