Paolo Guida

Research Scientist, CCRC, KAUST

Biography

Paolo Guida received his B.Eng. degree in chemical engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 2015 and an MSc degree in chemical engineering from the same institution in 2017. He received his PhD in mechanical engineering from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2020.

His doctoral research involved the development of numerical tools for modelling multiphase reactive flows and creating a novel Ultrasonically-Assisted Oxidative Desulfurization (uODS) process. He now works as a research scientist at the Clean Combustion Research Center at KAUST. He serves as a CTO for a new company named Emerging Solution Technologies that aims to apply the uODS process to reduce sulfur concentration in petroleum fraction and, particularly, HFOs, to comply with the IMO 2020 regulations. He is also one of the developers of MolEvo, a software that uses evolutionary computation to create discrete descriptions of unknown liquid mixtures.
