Biography

Mr. Christopher Capuano is a member of the Engineering Management Team at Nel Hydrogen, and is the Director of Contract Research and Development.  In this role, Mr. Capuano is accountable for project and product development execution in accordance with external and internal contracts, plus IR&D programs, specifically in relation to the identification, qualification, and implementation of new membrane, catalysts, and externally supplied MEAs for commercial applications.  He currently, oversees the pre-production stages of numerous internally funded projects and provides technical direction over the life of the program.  Additional oversight includes the portfolio of federally funded R&D and he has successfully led numerous contract programs funded by through the National Labs, NSF, ARPA-E, DOD, and DOE, regarding both cell stack cost improvements and higher efficiency gains through the evaluation of novel membrane materials or alternative catalyst synthesis techniques, as well as system design and development efforts.  Recently, Mr. Capuano was asked to lead the conceptual design and installation of Nel’s largest PEM electrolyzer system to date, a 20MW plant that is providing green hydrogen to an ammonia synthesis process in Puertollano, Spain.
