Dr. Francesca De Domenico is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Aircraft Propulsion at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft. She earned both her BSc and MSc in Aerospace Engineering with honors (summa cum laude) at the University of Padova (Italy). Following this, she completed her PhD in Engineering at the University of Cambridge (UK) in 2019, with a research focus on Thermoacoustics, Combustion, and Laser Diagnostics.
During her doctoral studies, Dr. De Domenico spent five months at King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST), dedicated to the development of non-linear laser diagnostics techniques. In recognition of her accomplishments, she was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship by Gonville and Caius College (University of Cambridge) in 2019. This prestigious fellowship, tailored for early career researchers, granted her the independence to pursue research with Principal Investigator status, expanding her expertise into the realm of bioengineering.
In October 2022, Dr. De Domenico joined TU Delft, where she currently leads the combustion lab. Her research focuses on advancing cutting-edge combustion technologies, with particular emphasis on hydrogen combustion and the development of laser diagnostics techniques.
