Will Northrop

Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota and Director of the T.E. Murphy Engine Research Laboratory

Biography

Will Northrop is professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota and Director of the T.E. Murphy Engine Research Laboratory. Dr. Northrop received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from University of Michigan in 2003 and 2009, respectively and a B.S in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1997. His research current interests include ammonia and hydrogen as fuels, physics-guided machine learning applied to engine systems, and emissions from combustion sources. Prof. Northrop is also a co-founder of Aza Power Systems, LLC, a startup company dedicated to commercializing ammonia engine combustion technology.
