Giancarlo Sorrentino

Researcher, the STEMS Institute of the National Research Council (CNR), Napoli (Italy)

Biography

Giancarlo Sorrentino is a permanent researcher at the STEMS Institute of the National Research Council (CNR) in Napoli (Italy) since 2021. He was Assistant Professor of Chemical Plants at the Department of Chemical, Materials and Production Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II from 2017 to 2021. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in Chemical, Materials and Process Engineering (2013) at the University Federico II of Naples and a Master’s Degree cum laude in Chemical Engineering (2009) at the same University.

Previously he was Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Institute for Research on Combustion (IRC) of CNR in Naples (2015-2017) and Visiting Scientist at the TU/e in Eindhoven and at the Cambridge University. He is currently the Secretary (Vice-Chair) of the Italian Section of the Combustion Institute.

His scientific researches concern experimental/numerical studies of MILD/Oxy-fuel combustion processes of traditional fuels and alternative energy carriers, in lab-scale burners, through advanced Chemical/Optical diagnostics and kinetics/fluid-dynamics codes.
