Dr. Fernando Biagioli joined the Combustor Department of Alstom, Heavy Duty Gas Turbine business in Baden, Switzerland in 2001 with responsibility in combustion modelling and lean premixed burner development. In 2009 he was nominated Principal Engineer working on many different combustor development projects involving modelling and testing. After the acquisition of Alstom from General electric in 2015, he has been confirmed in the position of Principal Engineer in burner design. Prior to that he was working at European Gas Turbines in Lincoln UK from 1998 to 2001 and as a research fellow of the Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia (CRS4), Italy, from 1992.
He received his MEng. degree from the University of Rome in 1990 where he also obtained a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in 1995. He has acted as a reviewer for different journals in combustion science and he has authored and coauthored several refereed papers on combustion. He is main author of several patents related to combustor and burner components.
