CCRC hosted a seminar on an 'Introduction to Wärtsilä and large bore engines' by Jari Hyvönen, Technical Manager at Wärtsilä, Finland on Monday, March 28th.

Wärtsilä is the global leader in sustainable power for the marine and energy markets supplying complete lifecycle power solutions. Wärtsilä 4-stroke reciprocating internal combustion engines span from a cylinder bore of 200mm up to 640mm, and cylinder power from 180kW/cyl up to 2000kW/cyl. Engine development is driven by emission legislation, energy conversion efficiency, fuel flexibility, and operational flexibility. The latest engine development is the Wärtsilä 31 engine family with a bore of 310mm and cylinder output spanning from 550kW/cyl to 660kW/cyl. The Wärtsilä 31 engine has reached the highest brake efficiency officially recorded in the industry for a 4-stroke engine operating in single cycle.
