Day two of the High-Pressure and High Reynolds Combustion Workshop
began with a light breakfast and registration at 8:00 AM outside the level 0
lecture hall between Al-Jazri and AL-Kindi buildings.
The session on “Diagnostics” began with a keynote lecture by Dr.
Marcus Aldén on “Development and Application of Laser Diagnostic Techniques for
Studies of Turbulent and High Pressure Combustion Performance”. Followed by a talk on “High-Repetition-Rate
Laser Diagnostic Methods for High-Pressure Combsution” by Dr. Robert P. Lucht
and a talk on “Boundary Layer Flashback in Swirl Combustion: Challenges for
Diagnostics” by Dr. Noel T Clemens.
Later, Dr. Andreas Dreizler spoke on “Wall-Bounded Turbulent
Flames”, Dr. Jeffrey A. Sutton presented “Quantitative High-Speed Scalar
Imaging in Turbulent Reacting Flows” and the day ended with a keynote lecture
by Dr. Robert S. Barlow titled “Recent Developments in Raman Scattering
Diagnostics for Turbulent Hydrogen Flames”.
The visiting researchers, scientists and invited speakers also
toured the labs and facilities on the Clean Combustion Research Center and
enjoyed a Sunset Reception and Saudi Dinner on the Red Sea.
